And you know why "we will never forget (tm)" because they aren't going to ever let us forget. As long as there is a vote or a dollar to be made on this sorry ass blemish on world history, it'll be forced down our collective throats.Sure, there are victims and heroes and the like to honor and remember, as well as the whole "where were you when you heard" angle, but it's become spectacle. Seriously.
Sure, there is the whole "not forgetting the mistakes of the past" stuff too. But, part of healing is moving on. Decay. Getting back to normal. It just seems too many entities were waiting for the "anniversary" to get in their two cents. I suppose the same can be said of me.
