Of the People By the People and For the People

One of the grievances in the Declaration of Independence was England's attempt to deprive the colonies of "the benefit of Trial by Jury." That is an essential check that the government doesn't run amok. Remember the Bush years? How soon you people forget stuff.

That's why I'm not moping out and making every lame weasel attempt to get out of jury duty. The people need the people! And I can and solemnly swear to be the most impartial, fair, diligent jurist in the history of America.

People were, what? Bored? Seriously? I ask, what is wrong with people? It's not just a duty. It's not just a responsibility. It's an honor. We are lucky be able to serve on juries. Represent. People should stand ("please rise") when I come into the court because I'm gonna give you a fair shake; weigh the evidence and think stuff through. That's my role.

So that's where I've been and, hopefully, that's where I'll be.

Truth or voir dire.
